DF 2020 - Ciclovia Nocturno

I was only able to participate in one nighttime Ciclovia but it was one of the highlights of the trip for me.  A lovely warm evening, hundreds of people out, very obviously enjoying themselves and each other it was impossible not to get carried by the joyful swell.  I found myself cycling around with a big grin all evening.  Bands playing, people dancing, families together, everyone smiling,  reveling in the joy of cycling together, claiming the streets for a few hours.

The next morning, the Sunday Ciclovia gets going bright and early.

These kids frequently use this particular spot to practice their dance routines.  Big windows as mirrors and lots of sidewalk.

Much of my enjoyment this year in DF was owing to the companionship of friends who were there at that time.  It was lovely to share the city with them and they enhanced my time greatly.

DF 2020 - Helio Flores

Helio Flores started as an architect but after only two years of plying that vocation he began what was to be a highly successful career as a caricaturist/political cartoonist.  As well as contributing to newspapers country wide, he published a periodical, La Garrapata, the tick.  At the Museo del Estanquillo (Museum of the Little Shop) there was an exhibit of his work.

DF 2020 - The last of Citibanamex

Time to bring this particular attraction to a conclusion.  I visited it four times, the first by myself and, because I liked it so much, I brought others here.

DF 2020 - Almost the last of Citibanamex

 I'm feeling a bit wistful posting photos of these beautiful objects, so emblematic of that country, wondering when, and if, I'll be back there.  So much of Mexican culture, the history and sensibility, the diversity, is captured in these crafts, this art.  I hope it doesn't get lost in what is sure to be a turbulent time ahead.
