Mexico 2019 - Museo del Juguete Antiguo México (MUJAM)

A friend in Guanajuato recommended the Museum of Antique Toys to me so I made the bike trip there and was totally blown away.  This is the biggest collection of toys in the world and was collected over 55yrs by Japanese/Mexican architect Roberto Shimizu largely to commemorate the short lived Mexican toy industry.  It started in a different location as a bakery/stationary store that sold toys seasonally. There still is a store front on the ground floor where they sell some sweets and an odd assortment of Chinese food items as well as a plethora of old toys, most of them also for sale.

I thought this was the extent of the museum and spent quite a while wandering around both the shop and the yard outside where there were murals and old cars and strange objects everywhere.

Then I discovered the stairs going up to the next floor where the museum actually starts.

This is going to take a few posts ..........
