I've been coming to Guanajuato for many years now and I think I can safely say that it's my favourite place in Mexico. I also love CDMX but there's something about Guanajuato that makes you want to stay. So far, after about two weeks in CDMX, I'm ready for Guanajuato. People have been known to start looking around at the real estate market after being there for just a few days. A very vibrant, engaging and pretty place
This year I had a lot of visitors from various places. At the end of my stay in Mexico City, I was joined by my friend, Jim, who lives in the same building as me here in Victoria and he accompanied me to Guanajuato and stayed there for a few days. Overlapping with him by a day or two was my cousin, Barbara, from New York.
You may remember her from my New York City post. She joined me for a week and ran me ragged with her energy and curiosity. She wanted to see what was in every shop and up every callejon. It's fun to show off Guanajuato to first timers and see them become smitten.
Like so many people, she'd heard a lot about San Miguel de Allende and wanted to see it so we took a day trip there.
And like so many people, after a few hours in San Miguel, she couldn't wait to get back to Guanajuato.
She also did one of the regular Wednesday hikes with a group of us.
A few days after she left I was joined by my beloved friend, Nancy, from Nova Scotia who I met in Guanajuato last year.
And a couple of weeks into her stay, my brother and his wife joined us for a week.
It does look wonderful Andrew. I'd like to go there sometime.
