Mexico 2019 - Mexico City

Here I am in Mexico City again, this time for three months.  As most of you know, I've become quite fond of this crazy big metropolis.

As I've found every year, it keeps changing and morphing.  The transportation choices keep growing as in most big cities.  New bus rapid transit routes have been added

and the bike lanes are getting busier not only with bikes but with electric scooters which are everywhere.  I tried one out but feel uneasy about using them on these potholed streets.  Lots of people are though.  As well as myriad  other choices.

The current situation with gas shortages should encourage more people to get out of their cars as well. The new president is really pushing the envelope in terms of trying to get a handle on corruption which is rife in the national petroleum industry.  In the meantime, many gas stations are closed and lineups at the ones that are open are blocks long.

 Pardon the shakiness.

The neighbourhood where I stay, Roma, has gotten a lot of notoriety since the movie named after it has become such a success.  Lovely parks and leafy residential streets.

Lots of dog walkers
And not only dogs

And a great weekly street market called a tianguis, one of many around the city.  They've been around since Aztec days.
